Revolutionizing Clinical Supply Chains | Berlinger USA

Experience real-time control like never before, supporting decentralized clinical trials and patient-centric care, with insights from Dr. Anne Stolle, Global Key Account Clinical Trials at Berlnger, in an interview.

As the upcoming GCSG 2023 European Knowledge Forum in Athens draws near, Berlinger is thrilled to welcome you to booth #30. Berlinger's dedicated team anticipates the opportunity to connect with attendees, offering valuable insights and expertise.

Dr. Anne Stolle will have an active role in the workshop, delving into the critical topic of "Vendor Selection and Preparing for Outsourcing." She will specifically focus on the Value Walk, and is excited to share her extensive knowledge in this field. In the lead-up to the event, we had the privilege of sitting down with Anne to investigate the transformative influence of communication on the clinical trial supply chain in recent years.

Q: Anne, how has effective communication transformed the clinical trial supply chain in the last years, specifically in terms of monitored temperature control during clinical trials?

I have now been privileged to work for Berlinger for three and a half years, helping to transform and shape the clinical supply chain. If we go back 5-10 years, passive loggers were the norm for shipments, and visual thermometers were widely used at the site level. By introducing SmartSystem, we at Berlinger have ushered in a new era of real-time loggers and systems for monitoring shipments and sites. This now enables a level of clinical supply chain control that supports shipment and site monitoring and many other applications such as the increasingly popular decentralized clinical trials. We already have customers who want to monitor their IMP even when it is with the patient or en route to the patient. Direct-to-patient shipments or temperature monitoring of storage at the patient's home are just two of the many use cases supported by our new SmartSystem.

Q: Can you please elaborate on what the connection to communication is?

Effective communication is at the heart of everything we do. We have to listen very carefully to our customers to understand the problems they are dealing with in the clinical supply chain and the obstacles they are facing, otherwise, we would not be able to meet their needs with our new developments. This also applies to me as a consultant and salesperson who strives to find the best possible solution for the customer, tailored to their needs. Of course, this may not always be SmartSystem. At Berlinger, we have a wide range of solutions to meet our customers' different requirements.
